The light of Guanyin will shine.
千手千眼放光明
千只智慧眼，
洞见多少烦恼；
千只慈悲手，
托起多少愿望。
应人间处处祈求，
永远光明遍照。
Design Concept
The story of this artwork extends thousands of years back in history, preserved quietly in the famed Dunhuang grottoes along the Silk Road in China’s Gobi Desert. The bodhisattva Guanyin of a thousand arms and eyes is so named for her ability to reach into the hearts of countless people around the world. This is the story of compassion so rare that it moved LIULI artist and founder Loretta H. Yang to sculpt a 3-meter statue of Guanyin over the course of ten years. The lessons of kindness and compassion echoe with Yang’s philosophies on art being a medium of spirituality. As such, her Guanyins have been brought to the world stage and exhibited in dozens of institutions.
这一次的千手千眼观音，她不只是延续敦煌造像之美，更放下了艺术家的坚持执着, 为大众创作，让这尊观音要更入世，更贴近人。 杨惠姗做的每一件事都是非常大众化的，愿意一再修改甚至不惜调整纯粹艺术家的身分，只为找到其创作与大众之间最大的共鸣，可以说是一位少见的、非常「人间化」的艺术家。 这个歷程仍在继续，琉璃工房「永远不断地创作有益人心的作品」的信念，透过每一双手，每一件作品，传递我们对「生命」的体会。
